The LP400, thanks to its slick styled narrow tyres had low drag coefficient and hence a better speed. The doors of the car had horizontal hinges that became a trademark of Countach. Though it added style to the car, it was done because it was not possible to use conventional doors because of the width of the car. The Countach was used as a benchmark for many other Lamborghini models that followed.

They appealed a great deal to the performance car engineers and drivers but were no match to the distinction of the Countach LP400. An upgraded model of the Lamborghini LP 400 was later introduced in 1978 which was known as the LP400s. The car had some modifications done on the LP400 model and had a very fundamental look. As many as 157 LP400s were built during its time of production.
